GETTING IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME

It started with my dad and I restoring a 1965 Mustang Candy Apple Red Convertible and taking it to car shows and people asking me if I could restore their cars.  It’s a scary leap to take starting your own business but I had enough restoration work to open Dan Green Restorations in the early 2000’s. I’ve been busy ever since.

I have always had the philosophy to treat any restoration as if the project were my own.  I take a great deal of pride and satisfaction in doing a job the right way the first time and I stress about the details.  Every project is like an archeology dig, you only get one chance to uncover unique details specific to each car and duplicating them later on.

At DGR your project is our project too!

THE TEAM

When I started working at DGR I already had 19 years working in a restoration shop specializing in Ford Mustangs.  Since before I could drive, I have owned, restored and enjoyed many Mustangs and other classics. So many in fact, I have lost count.

Just like all classic car owners, I had my own idea and definition of an automobile restoration. To many, a restoration consists of a can of engine color paint, a few new nuts and bolts and I bright coat of Maaco paint.

I will confess, working at DGR, my definition of restoration changed dramatically over the last 18 months. Dan has been instrumental in opening my eyes to what a true restoration consists of. Simply put, a restoration is a series of small restorations combined to make a beautiful work of art. The end result being automobile perfection.

When every effort is taken to duplicate factory markings, to recreate drips of primer on the floor pans, to ensure overspray is in the proper places and to reassemble a project to factory specs- THAT’S RESTORATION.

So far my employment at DGR has been a great learning experience. Thanks Dan.

For me working on the team at DGR is an unmatched experience. Why? Because your maximum attention is required every day. Another aspect I have learned from Dan is the importance of every detail until the project is finished. Without having these qualities we have problems. I’m sincerely thankful to Dan for the opportunity to be part of his team and the confidence it has provided me in the past years.

Working for DGR is like no other job. I continue to learn more and more as I work on each project. You never know what to expect as you begin each project, so it’s never a dull day. All of us in the shop stay focused and driven to finish our individual tasks, yet it’s never intimidating to ask anyone for advice or assistance.

WE DO WHAT WE CAN

Giving back to the community is important to our shop. This unique, custom built cycle cart was built from scratch and auctioned off for Blessed Sacrament Catholic School’s Annual Spring Fest Fundraiser back in 2017.
